Reducing Your Energy Costs with Clara Library ENFOpoint
Details of a talk and other information
On Thursday, May 5th at 7.00p.m., Mark Macaulay (Manager of Midlands Energy Agency) was in Clara Library to give a talk entitled Reducing Your Energy Costs.
The talk was aimed at both domestic and small business energy consumers.
This talk was part of an ongoing series of environmentally themed events, which Clara Library has hosted as part of the ENFOpoint pilot programme. The programme has been running in the library since December last and provides environmental information to adults and children.
Also available for free here in the library is a very useful leaflet, created by Offaly County Council, which contains energy saving tips on topics such as Lighting, Heating & Insulation, Appliances and details of the OWL Energy Monitor Loan Scheme. The OWL Energy Monitor Loan Scheme (an initiative of Offaly County Council and Offaly County Libraries) has been running since November of last year and has proven very popular. Under the scheme (running in all Offaly libraries), registered borrowers can borrow an OWL electricity monitor for a week. The device allows you to see how much electricity your home uses so that you can look at ways of reducing your bill.
Clara Library also currently has free booklets from Sustainable Energy Ireland on topics such as being your own energy manager, sustainable energy, energy saving at home, a guide to Building Energy Rating (BER) and motoring tips.
Don’t forget that Offaly Libraries has books on environmental topics for both adults and children. To find out more, why not call into your local library or look up our online catalogue on the Libraries section of the Offaly County Council website ( www.offaly.ie ).
