Evergreen and deciduous are the two main types of trees. Can you guess why some trees are called evergreen?

Evergreen trees keep their leaves all year round. They look green all of the time.

Deciduous trees shed their leaves in the autumn. New shoots and leaves grow in the spring.

Why are trees important?

There are many, many reasons!

Trees help to shelter animals such as birds and squirrels.

People use the wood for building.

One of the most important roles of trees is to clean the air. They take carbon dioxide out of the air and make oxygen. This is very important - people, and animals, all need oxygen to breath!

Can you think of any other reason why trees are important?
