There are many different type of dolphins. The most common dolphin in Ireland is the Bottlenose Dolphin.

Fungie, the Dingle dolphin, is a Bottlenose Dolphin. They are a grey colour and have a short nose.

Bottlenose Dolphins often swim up to boats. They sometimes jump out over the surface of the water!

Have you ever seen a Bottlenose Dolphin along the coast of Ireland?

Bottlenose dolphins have a very long life. Males live from 25 to 30 years. Females can live for up to 40 years. A baby dolphin is called a 'calf'. Its mother gives it food for the first year of its life. Its father does not help to rear the calf.
