Boiling a Kettle

Boiling Water: Old and New

In the older picture, the kettle is hanging above the fire. It is hanging from a crane. The hook the kettle is hanging from is called a crook.

When the kettle was boiled, it could be moved away from the flames by sliding the crook along the crane.

Is the kettle we use to boil water with today different from the old kettle?
