  • Rathdown Slabs

These Viking slabs are not unique to Ireland. Archaeologists have found a striking similarity between the Rathdown Slabs and the slabs found in Scotland and Wales.

There is a cross-inscribed stone in Wales which looks almost identical to the Dalkey Slab.

From this similarity, we can guess that the early Viking settlers in Dublin had links with Britain. This could have been a result of contact between churches during the early Christian period
