Air Transport

Map of Irish Airports

Air transport has become the fastest and most popular form of travel to other countries.

Ireland has six major airports.

There are two in Northern Ireland; Belfast City Airport (recently re-named George Best Belfast City Airport after the famous football player) and Belfast International Airport.

Ireland has four major airports in the Republic; Dublin Airport, Cork International Airport, Shannon Airport and Knock International Airport.

All of the above airports are served by flights from Britain, Europe, and the United States. There are several regional airports; Galway, Kerry, Sligo, Waterford and Donegal that have scheduled flights mostly to Ireland and the United Kingdom.
