Dublin Voices: An Oral Folk History

"We went to the convent school over there with the Sisters of Charity.... At the convent school everyone whose father wasn't working or whose father was dead - and our father was dead - they'd bring you down underneath to a big long table with stools and you got soup and bread. Oh a beautiful cup of soup. One day you'd have barley soup and the next day you'd have pea soup. And on a Friday you'd get jam and bread. But the nuns were very strict".
