The Earth can be broken down into four “spheres”: the atmosphere (air), the biosphere (living things), the lithosphere (land) and the hydrosphere (water). The hydrosphere is the combined body of water found on, above and under the surface of the planet and includes all solid, liquid and gaseous water.
