GRAPH: Teacher Size of Schools 1965-2004
Information graph from Statistical Report 2003/2004 DES 2005

Now look at the year 1965-1956 at the start of the graph.

Children often had to walk to school long ago.

This meant that schools could not be very far away from their homes.

Schools usually were built within three miles, or 4.81 km, of each other, so that there would be a school near most children.

Do you think this had anything to do with the size of schools in 1966? Why?
