Pearl Mussel

The Pearl Mussel, which can live to 120 years old, is in serious danger of extinction. Younger Mussels are not surviving the deteriorating water quality of Irish rivers. It means the Pearl Mussels living today are the one's who were born before Irish Independence (1919-21). Ireland is one of the last places in Europe where the Pearl Mussel survives.
