Fingal Local Studies and Archives

Fingal Local Studies & Archives holds the records of Fingal County Council, Dublin County Council and their predecessor bodies including the County of Dublin Grand Jury, Boards of Guardians, Rural District Councils and Turnpike Trusts. We also hold the records of the Balbriggan Town Commissioners and the Howth Urban District Council. Private collections include the Hely Hutchinson Papers, Fingall Estate Papers, Cloghran Stud, Lamb Brothers, Holmpatrick Estate Papers and the records of Shackleton’s Mills among many other smaller collections and individual items.  

Our Local Studies collection includes postcards, photographs, maps, paintings, ephemera, local history publications and much more.

Digitised collections are online at the Digital Repository of Ireland – Fingal at the DRI.
