Glengowla Mines

Glengowla Silver and Lead Mine showcases how Ireland's valuable industrial heritage has been transformed into a tourist attraction. A tour explores the chambers and caverns where iron and silver pyrite, calcite veins, quartz and other precious material can be seen. Octahedral crystal of flourite and quartz can also been seen. Pitch pine timbers imported to Ireland on the return journey by emigrant 'coffin' ships remain intact.
