Franciscan Library

This library was established in 1945 as the main Franciscan library in Ireland, to house manuscripts and rare books then in local friaries, including Dublin. It is the principal repository of information about Irish Franciscans at home and abroad, in colleges in Louvain, Rome and Prague, and also on missions in other countries.  Its manuscripts in Irish, including a copy of the Annals of the Four Masters, together with papers of Eamon de Valera, Sean MacEoin, Muiris O Droighnean and others, were deposited in the 1990s in the Archives Department of NUI Dublin together with 20 incunabula (24, including separate parts) and also some rare books.
