Geological Museum of Trinity College Dublin

At the Geological Museum of Trinity College Dublin, an exhibition entitled 'The Story of the Earth' covers a comprehensive variety of geological subjects from minerals, materials of economic importance, rocks and a variety of fossils. The museum caters for schools, universities and public visitors. The collections date from 1777 and there are approximately 80,000 specimens in all. Among the palaeontological holdings are Irish Silurian and Carboniferous invertebrates, Mesozoic ostracods and Upper Palaeozoic miospores. The mineral collection contains Irish and foreign specimens and dates from the 1820s.
