This is a short history of the remedial measures passed by the British Parliament for Ireland 1831-1881.

The author writes that from the 16th century to the 19th century, the policy of the English Government in Ireland was to make them Protestant in creed and English in sentiment. However, R. Barry O’Brien does not present his opinion in the book, but instead states the facts connected with the concessions to Ireland, which have been carried out through the English Parliament.

R. Barry O’Brien (1864-1918) was born in County Clare, he was educated privately and at the Catholic University, Dublin. One of his most noted positions when he graduated was to be chairman of the London Gaelic League 1892-1906, and President 1906-11. O’Brien was known as a loyal Parnellite and later his biographer - The Life of Charles Stewart Parnell with a preface by John Redmond and contains a black and white portrait frontispiece of Parnell.
