• Fáilte Ireland has launched its carbon strategy, Facing the Challenges of Climate Change.

The Green Hospitality Award (GHA) is an EPA project that assists the hotel and hospitality sector to implement environmental management systems via a subsidised award scheme.  To date, over 180 hotels representing nearly 25% of Irelands ’ bed-spaces are members, with 88 hotels gaining awards. In 2008, GHA members saved over €3 million in resource efficiencies equating to 4000 tonnes of waste, 187,500 kWh of energy, 500,000 cubic metres of water.

Publicity

The popular television series EcoEye has broadcast nine series on RTÉ . The programme is developed in association with the EPA, who sponsors several items in the series. Approximately 400,000 people watching each programme.
