The Cabra Estate is situated near Kingscourt in Cavan. Within the grounds of the estate is located the beautiful forest park of Dún a Rí. In total, there is 229 hectares of forest at Dún a Rí, 146 hectares of which is specifically a commercial forest. The timber that is produced here helps to boost the economy of the county.

The Cabra Estate itself has a long history. It is said that the Irish legendary hero, Cúchulainn, camped in the Glen of Cabra River at night while he fought against Ferdia by day in the famous legend of The Brown Bull of Cooley. The Normans are also said to have occupied the area, while Oliver Cromwell left his mark by building a bridge known as ‘Cromwell’s Bridge’.
