Co. Donegal is located in the north-west of Ireland in the province of Ulster. It borders on the counties of Leitrim, Derry, Tyrone and Fermanagh. The capital town of the county is Lifford.

The coastline of Co. Donegal is the longest in Ireland at 1,235 km. The Inishowen Peninsula and the Fanad Peninsula offer dramatic cliffs, long sandy beaches and dunes. Donegal is also the location of the highest sea cliffs in Ireland, at Slieve League.

There are many areas of outstanding natural beauty in Donegal including, for example, Glenveagh National Park. It is a popular county for hill walking and many of the beaches are well known for for the excellent surfing conditions.

There are also Donegal has many Heritage Towns that are of archaeolgical, historical and cultural interest.
