Environmental Research
The environment, as we have seen, is a complex area with many interlinkages – as old issues are dealt with new ones emerge. Sound policy making must be underpinned by good science and so the role of environmental research is vital if we are to protect this fragile world into the future. The environmental research of today will become the environmental protection of the future.
Environmental research in Ireland is coordinated by the EPA and, over the past 15 years the research funding has built up the cohort of researchers in this field and provided key science to policy and decision makers in Government.
