Maps

Between 1829 and 1842 Ordnance Survey Ireland completed the first ever large scale survey of an entire country. Acclaimed for their accuracy, these maps are regarded by cartographers as amongst the finest ever produced. They include every road, track and even hedge across the country.  The 6" series of ordnance survey maps were completed in 1842 followed by the 25" series indexed by parish, which was completed in 1913.

Both the 6"and 25" series are now available online free of charge in all public libraries in Ireland including Waterford City and Waterford County Libraries. A pay per view version of the website is available at www.irishhistoricmaps.ie
