Carlow County LibraryThe view is of the west front, from the Kilkenny Road. It shows the proposed main building flanked by two identical wings. The central block is three-storey while those on the sides are on two floors. Twin towers show above the central block positioned at either end. Some colonnade detail is to be seen at ground floor level and the architect also makes reference to some detail for iron railings.
The windows in the main building display the Palladian style with round-headed archways flanked on either side by narrower panels. The windows feature mullioned glazing. On the upper floor of the main block can be found a row of triple paned low-rise windows. Doorways are not clearly indicated on this elevation drawing.
The drawing of the Workhouse measured 6.9 x 15.7 inches and was lithographed by Standidge and Company of London.
