Blackwater PressThe referee intimated that time was up. The ball was hit low and gathered by Larry O'Gorman as the long whistle sounded. O'Gorman and Colm Kehoe sprinted to the ecstatic thousands on Hill 16 and the rest of the Wexford team jumped with joy.
At the whistle, George O'Connor sank to his knees and an enterprising and alert The Examiner photographer got the shot of a lifetime as the big St Martin's man, at the end of his 18-year sojourn in the Wexford jersey,clasped his hands in silent and joyful prayer.
