COMHAR & ECO-UNESCO

ESD Schools Toolkit ECO-UNESCO, in conjunction with COMHAR, has developed a Secondary Schools Toolkit dealing with CSPE, Science and Geography in the Junior Cycle.  
ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards The Young Environmentalist Award, run by ECO-UNESCO, is a youth-focused programme provided within the second level schools system and the youth sector that aims to build environmental awareness among young people and to empower them to become active citizens by promoting simple action and lifestyle changes.  It is an all-island environmental awards programme for young people between the ages of 12 and 18.  The programme focuses on an action-based approach of learning by doing.  www.ecounesco.ie

ECO-Discovery
ECO-UNESCO offers workshops on request to schools and youth groups.  Topics include Waste, Energy, Biodiversity, Water and Global Change.  
  ECO-UNESCO Educational Resources ECO-UNESCO has produced educational resources on Waste, Energy, Sustainable Development and Climate Change aimed at teachers and youth leaders.  
  Youth Events - National Youth ECO Forum ECO-UNESCO runs youth events around key environmental dates throughout the year.  ECO-UNESCO runs a National Youth ECO Forum each year.  
Coomhola Salmon Trust StreamScapes Aquatic Education Programme The StreamScapes Aquatic Education programme runs projects on two levels which are already accessed and utilised by schools and youth community groups throughout the state under the auspices of Local Authority support of the Heritage in Schools/INTO initiative.  
Environmental Protection Agency Transition Year Resource Pack

The Transition Year Resource Pack introduces students to key environmental challenges facing Ireland in the new millenium.  It includes a video of the 25-minute programmes from the series broadcast on RTE in 2002 called The State We're In, and provides a set of student tasks and worksheets to photocopy.
