Changing with the times

From 1966, free education was made available to all Post-Primary students in Ireland. In 1972 the school ceased taking boarders. In the early 1970's a new senior school was built with a swimming pool and new sports fields laid out.

In 1975, Computer Science was introduced in the school. A computer was purchased (the third school in Ireland to do so) at the cost of £3000.

Into the 20th Century

A Board of Management took over the running of the school from the Presentation Brothers in 1990.

The tradition of pupils attending the college from age 6 to 18 came to an end when the Junior school closed in 1993.

The first non-preist or monk principal was appointed in 1998. In 2006, the school had 640 students.
