Celebrating the pleasure James Joyce brings to so many, Wexford Libraries provided a diverse program
Celebrating the pleasure James Joyce brings to so many, Wexford Libraries provided a diverse programme for this years Bloomsday. For writers, award winning writer, Claire Keegan led The Essentials of Fiction workshop in Wexford town library and all participants left with practical advice and a realistic view of what the writing of fiction involves, its difficulties and pitfalls - and a sense of whats possible on a page. As part of the Bloomsday celebrations, participants had read Eveline from Dubliners in advance and the text was analysed over the course of the workshop. For readers, All the living and the dead: Death in Joyce's Dubliners was the lecture in Gorey Library. There Dr. Gerard Dineen explored the pervasive theme of death by examining the personal, political and social circumstances in which this collection was written. More death than Joyce or maybe re-birth but relevant definitely, New Ross library provided a Composting Workshop with Nuala Madigan from the Irish Peatland Conservation Council on Bloomsday afternoon. All angles covered.
