Tuesday, 21 August at 7.00pm Finding Science in the NLI: the making of the Particles of the Past Exhibition. In association with Heritage Week 18 26 August Join Aoife OConnor, co-curator or the Particles of the Past exhibition as she takes us through an intriguing selection of science-related gems that are included in the exhibition. Free, all welcome. No booking required: please arrive early to secure a space.

Thursday, 23 August at 11.00am Learn how to use the NLI Ever wondered how to use the NLI? Join us for this free workshop where we will show you how to get a Readers Ticket, how to search the catalogues, how to order materials and much more. Free, all welcome. No booking required.





Friday, 24 August from 7.00 pm Hidden Heritage at Café Joly, National Library of Ireland An evening of Irish food, live music & eclectic readings in the National Librarys Café Joly. The evening will be hosted by journalist Aoife Carrigy for National Heritage Week and will be celebrating some lesser-explored corners of our rich national heritage. Particles of the Past Discover your National Library FREE Our multimedia exhibition Discover your National Library invites you behind the scenes to view amazing never-before-seen treasures from our collections, and hear from the staff that look after them. By using our innovative 'Discovery' touch screen tables, you can zoom in on the detail of thousands of rare and beautiful items. This August, to celebrate Dublin City of Science 2012, Phase Four of the exhibition Particles of the Past will showcase a fascinating selection of science-related gems. From 17th century home remedies to early archaeological drawings to Captain Cooks journal, this event is sure to awaken your inner Einstein. Free. No booking required.

Thursday, 26 July to Thursday 30 September Séan Hillen Exhibition Photographs from the North of Ireland 1979-1990. Part of PhotoIreland Festival 2012 The National Librarys National Photographic Archive (NPA) celebrates its third year of collaborating with the Photoireland Festival with an exhibition by Séan Hillen entitled Photographs from the North of Ireland 1979 1990.
