Johnston Central Librarys Public computer network has been upgraded. Top of the range mini eco-friendly P.C.s are now in place.

We are the first library in Ireland to have the new Shuttle xs36v computers which are 90% more energy efficient than standard PCs. We expect significant energy savings annually as a result. The shuttles PCs create a nicer work environment for our users, are easier for staff to manage and also meet our Information Technology needs.

Thanks to the initiative of Cavan County Councils Information Technology and Energy Teams, the Library Service was provided with substantial funding and all the support necessary to put this fantastic new facility in place.

Good news for our library service, it is also one more initiative that brings Cavan County Council closer to achieving a statutory 33% reduction in energy use by 2020.
