Library, Archival and Research Studentships
Founded in 1877 the National Library of Ireland was established as an independent state body on 3 May 2005. The Library is a legal deposit library for Ireland and holds very significant collections of material relating to Ireland’s documentary heritage, including printed books, manuscripts, photographs, newspapers, prints, and drawings. The Library employs some 88 staff and occupies premises in Dublin City Centre.
Applications are invited for the following positions:
Archival Studentship
In association with the UCD School of History and Archives, the Library invites applications for a one-year Archival Studentship, for the period 2 September 2013 to 29 August 2014. The Studentship will be awarded to a graduate who wishes to gain experience of archival work preparatory to applying for the MA (Archives and Records Management). Candidates should have a good honours degree.
Library Studentship
In association with the Department of Library and Information Studies, University College Dublin, the Library invites applications for a one-year Library Studentship, for the period 2 September 2013 to 29 August 2014. The Studentship will be awarded to a graduate who wishes to gain experience of working in a library in advance of undertaking a postgraduate course in librarianship. Candidates should have a good honours degree.
Research Studentship in Irish History
In association with the Royal Irish Academy Committee for Historical Sciences, the Library invites applications for a one-year Research Studentship in the Library’s Department of Manuscripts for the period 2 September 2013 to 29 August 2014. Candidates for the Research Studentship should be advanced post-graduate students (at least second year), or post-doctoral students, of Irish history.
