Help My Kid Learn Day will be celebrated nationally on Tuesday 11th June!

A new website for parents called Help My Kid Learn was launched recently by the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn T.D.

The purpose of the website is to provide fun activities that parents can do with their children to improve their reading, writing and maths skills. It highlights the way children learn as part of their everyday lives and especially the positive things that children learn at home from their families.

www.helpmykidlearn.ie mixes the old with the new, from card games and hopscotch that help practice maths, to childrens e-books and apps for reading and pleasure. Play is one of the most effective ways children learn and the site is packed full of fun activities that support childrens literacy and numeracy. It also helps parents, who are usually rushed off their feet, with lots of practical ideas they can build into their daily routine, milestones to look out for and useful tips.

Help My Kid Learn is for parents, grandparents and carers of children aged 0 12 years and is searchable according to the childs age. All a person has to do is enter their childs age and they will be presented with 25 ideas for helping children with talking, playing, reading, writing and working with numbers.
