Friday 20th September, 7-9.30pm - A night of literature, music and drama all under one roof...

We are delighted to welcome Belfast-born, acclaimed writer Bernard MacLaverty to Cavan. Bernard, who now lives in Glasgow, has published five collections of short stories and four acclaimed novels including Cal and The Anatomy School. He has written plays for radio, television and screen and is a member of Aosdána. He is also visiting Writer-Professor at the University of Strathclyde.

Bernard will be reading from his work, talking about his life as a writer, and exploring literature with the audience. Expect a lively question and answer session!

Music and drama in good supply

We look forward to harp music from renowned local musician Kavan Donohoe who has been playing this instrument since the age of seven. He has performed on many television and radio shows and has won awards at a number of International Harp Festivals.

Paul Marron is a graduate of the Gaiety School of Acting. His growing list of theatre credits includes The Boys of Foley Street at the Dublin Theatre Festival 2012, The Great Couch Rebellion, The Circus of Perseverance for the Gonzo Theatre and Tarry Flynn for Mill Productions. Paul will, as part of his performance on Culture night, pay homage to our late, beloved poet, Seamus Heaney.
