Public Library of Samos looking for a sister library in Ireland
The Public Library of Samos, the first Greek library in the NAPLE Sister Libraries programme, is looking for a sister library in Ireland. The users of this central library on the island of Samos speak Greek, English, German, French, Danish, Albanian, Russian and Bulgarian.
The NAPLE Sister Libraries programme offers public libraries the opportunity partner with a library in another country. So far, 30 sister partnerships have been established with considerable mutual benefits. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Exchange of library information
- Exchange of library resources
- Shared library training programmes
- Shared library programmes and exhibits
- Shared cultural events
- Assistance in library development
- Staff exchanges
More information on the programme, a list of all the participating countries and regions and an application form are available on the NAPLE Sister Library website. You can also sign up to receive email notifications of new posts from the programme blog.
Any Irish libraries interested in participating in this programme should fill out the application form and return it to Ruth Montague at rmontague@lgma.ie.
