Pop in and use our new Digital Microfilm Reader/Printer in Carlow Library Local Studies Department. This new generation of microfilm/microfiche reader has already been installed in The National Library of Ireland, many University Libraries and is now in Carlow!

This universal scanner features high-resolution optics and fast, high-resolution scanning to all magnifications and a powerful set of software features with simple user friendly on-screen controls. The cutting edge software includes a touch-screen function and Word-Search technology making it possible for users to quickly and easily search and locate information on any microform. With the ScanPro 2000’s new OCR technology you can convert your microfilm image to word searchable text, edit, link to information sources, email a segment and save to your memory stick with just a single click. A really brilliant addition to our Local Studies Department, this machine will be of huge benefit to the people of Carlow and all those who wish to research, read and print material from our microfilm collection.

Find more information on our microfilm and newspaper archive. The Local Studies Department is open from Monday to Wednesday, 9:45-1 and 2-5pm.
