Springtime Programme from Kilkenny Libraries!

As you emerge from your long winter hibernation, drop into your local library to see what wonders await you! Our staff have been preparing our Spring Programme lately. There are Gardening books on display to entice you to start digging, free computer classes on the way, Book Clubs, Irish and French conversation groups, coffee mornings to support Daffodil Day, Parent and toddler groups, Bibliotherapy book collections to help with your mental health, exhibitions and even Craft and Knitting groups to join!
So use your Library card, its a passport to free entertainment recreation and education!
Ferrybank Library
Seachtain na Gaeilge was a great success. Well done to all who chatted ‘as Gaeilge’, even those who had the cúpla focal joined in the craic!
Remember you can continue chatting ‘as Gaeilge’ in our Ciorcal Cómhra every second Tuesday at 2:30pm. A Céad mile fáilte is extended to all who attend!
School Quiz ‘as Gaeilge’ – Congratulations to the Strangsmill National School team who won first prize in our Seachtain na Gaeilge table quiz!

Computer Classes - ETB [Education Training Board] will commence computer classes in April.
The programme aims to: Access Windows environment, create a document, use File Management, Internet and email software.
This course has been designed to introduce learners with little or no previous knowledge of computers to the basics of Information Communications Technology [ICT]. Topics covered in this course include: Computer Basics; Desktop; etc...
There will be Certification on completion of Equal Skills Workbook.
If interested in partaking in this course, please contact the library to register. We are taking names now, places on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
Parent & Toddler Morning – a chance to meet up for a chat and a cuppa while the little ones play. It takes place on Thursdays from 10am-12pm
Bibliotherapy – The Power of Words – Read Yourself Well......now available in the library. This NEW collection which has been compiled by GP’s and other professionals includes books on many of the common psychological problems people experience, e.g. depression, grief, stress, addiction and low self-esteem etc...

City Library John’s Quay
Seachtain Na Gaeilge - Tar isteach go Leabharlann na Cathrach, Cé Eoin agus éist le cúpla scéalta i nGaeilge agus i mBéarla!
To celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge, there will be an Irish themed storytime in City Library for children on Friday 20th March from 3.30pm. To book a place, phone 056 779 4174 or ask at the desk.
Book Club - The City Library book club are reading Road Ends by Mary Lawson this month. The next meeting takes place March 25th from 11:30 to 12:30.New members welcome.
Exhibition - The artwork of Tia Vellani will be on display in City Library for the next few weeks. Tia creates designs based on classical music and weaves them into tapestries of tiny coloured glass beads. She has been fascinated by coloured glass since she was a child because of the curious way it catches and plays with light.
Poets on Board - Please email your poem to citylibrary@kilkennylibrary.ie to be in with a chance to win a book voucher. Selected poems for this month will be on display in the library from 10th April.
#LibraryLove - Thank you for your wonderful entries to our Valentine’s Day competition. Congratulations to Frank Bradley, who won a voucher for a meal for two, and Una Bourke, who won a book voucher.
Daffodil Day Friday 27th March - Our annual Daffodil Day coffee morning will be held in City Library on Friday, 27th March from 10am-1pm. All are welcome, so call in for your morning coffee, enjoy some home baking, and support a worthy cause.
Anyone wishing to donate cakes, buns, traybakes, etc., or items for the raffle, please feel free to drop them off on the day. Official Daffodil Day merchandise will be on sale also.

Castlecomer Library
Parent and Toddler Storytime and Crafts - Drop in for this free session on Thursday mornings for an hour at 11.30am. Listen to a story and make something pretty!
Exhibition - The Story of Kilkenny’s architecture continues until March 31st. Suitable for all, especially schools.
Book Club - The Afternoon Book Club will meet at 2.30 on Tuesday March 31st to chat about:”Eloise” by Judy Finnegan
Irish conversation Circle - We welcome anybody who wishes to converse as gaeilge on Wednesday April 1st at 10.00. The group meets every month.
Nattering Knitters - Anyone who wishes to join this group is welcome, whether it is to learn a new craft or to participate in this happy group, come along any Thursday from 1am – 12pm.
Coffee and Cakes - Support Daffodil Day in the Library on Thursday March 26th from 10am – 4pm.

Coffee and cakes - Daffodil Day Coffee Morning on Friday 27th March From 10.00 -12.30pm. All are welcome. Daffodil merchandise on sale in the Library. Daffodil Day Raffle in the library also. Donations of home baking would be greatly appreciated, please support this very worthy cause.

Green Dog Walkers - sign up to be a Green Dog walker and collect your arm band and doggie bag and a hi-vis vest at the Library.
Graig Library Book Club - members are reading “The Girl on the Train” by Paula Hawkins. The group meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the library at 7pm.
Crafty Crew - meet every Wednesday from 10.30 to 12.00, if you would like to meet, knit, sew, crochet, embroider or any craft come along for chat and a cuppa.
