Vacancy: Faculty Librarian, University of Limerick

Unijobs Ltd on behalf of the University of Limerick are currently recruiting for a temporary position of a Librarian to be based at The University of Limerick. This post is envisaged to last for 5 months. Responsibilities include:
Collection Development
· Source, Select & Order Material (incl trials & evaluation of new products, vendor relationships, donations, & ULIR … )
· Analysis of collections, incl usage analysis
· Development & updating of policies
· Stock management, incl space planning, withdrawals, weeding, replacing missing & damaged books
· Management of agreed budgets & identification of funding where required
Teaching and Learning
· Analyse information literacy training needs
· Design and implement strategic and pedagogically appropriate instruction for library users through a variety of methods
· Engage faculty and other teaching staff to integrate information literacy concepts and skills into the curriculum
· Deliver effective instructional sessions and/or provide alternate learning opportunities such as library guides, train-the-trainer sessions, or research consultations
· Deliver learning materials and guides in web and/or print formats
Digital Tools
· Identify areas where new online learning and digital tools can place the library into the flow of teaching, learning and research
· Work with the Centre for Teaching & Learning and the Information Technology Division to ensure that online course and subject guides are integrated into learning management systems
· Keep abreast of data management issues within departments
· Test tools and work collaboratively to solve technology problems
· Explore and exploit opportunities for innovative and collaborative projects,particularly using electronic resources and new technology
Reference Service
· Create and maintain appropriate guides and information, print and online
· Participate in staffing the Ask Us service, email and chat
· Provide a consultancy service, with on-call hours for the Information Desk, and a consultancy/referrals process with ‘office hours’
· Provide training and support to library staff in the use of information resources as required
Scholarly communication
· Educate and inform faculty graduate students and campus administrators on issues of scholarly communication
· Monitor patterns of research and emerging issues in scholarly communication
· Promote use of the institutional repository with faculty and research students
Marketing
· Identify potential topics for exhibits, events, or publications that promote services or collections or support campus goals
· Plan and execute events
· Work with the communications officer on publicity
Engagement & Liaison
· Attend faculty boards, course development boards, and other faculty or division specific meetings, including meetings with the Research Office & with the Centre for Teaching & Learning.
· Participate in university initiatives and discussions, including quality initiatives.
· Seek opportunities to engage with students, e.g. class reps
· Seek opportunities for collaboration in the areas of collections, teaching and research
· Identify funding sources and apply for funding for information provision initiatives
Continuing Professional Development
· Keep up-to-date through reading, attending conferences, seminars, colloquia and workshops, and through participation in appropriate groups e.g. subject librarian discipline groups
· Publish and present at conferences, seminars, colloquia and workshops on topics of interest to the university and/or library community
Each faculty librarian has a particular responsibility to these processes for their own faculty
or division, as well as a general responsibility for the processes across the library. In addition,
each assistant librarian takes particular responsibility for a process area.
