City Library John’s Quay
Poets on Board
Congratulations to Tomás Céitinn whose poem, Deliverance, was selected from the poetry submitted for Poets on Board from April to June. Tomás receives a €30 book voucher prize. You can read the poem on our blog.

Knitting Group
Thank you very much to our knitters who created a beautiful baby blanket as a gift for Aisling Kelly, our branch manager who had a baby boy recently. The craft group meets at City Library from 6-8pm every Tuesday. New members are welcome.
Summer Reading Buzz
Register for the Summer Buzz reading challenge from July 1st. The challenge is to read 10 books between 1st July and 22nd August. There will be small prizes given after 3 books, 6 books, 8 books and a certificate on completion. So there should be at least 4 visits to the library over the summer. Those who complete the challenge will be invited to a special event in the Watergate Theatre on October 10th.
Cartoon Saloon Workshops
We still have places available for the 11am Cartoon Saloon workshop at City Library on 16th July. The workshops will be facilitated by Rory Conway from Cartoon Saloon and will feature a preview of the Oscar nominated film Song of the Sea! Ferrybank Library
Animation
A magical time was had by all at the Cartoon Saloon Workshops held in Ferrybank Library recently. Schools from near and far participated throughout the day, and all were mesmerised by Rory Conway, Animator and Visual Concept Artist, who brought the ‘magic alive’. The Song of the Sea opens July 10th 2015. Academy Award Nominated and IFTA Winner 2015 (best film)
Busy Bees!
Children’s Summer Reading Buzz: We’re now on the countdown to the summer reading challenge for Primary School Children. Register in the Library from 1st July for the Summer Reading Buzz. Last year was a great success and we hope to encourage even greater numbers this year. Only 10 books to read in total and 5 library visits over the summer is necessary to complete this challenge. Parents too are encouraged to join in the challenge!!!

Kids Summer Reading Buzz!
Our Summer Reading Challenge begins on July 1st, so drop in and register! We will offer free gifts as you read 10 books over the Summer holiday. You can also enter our Book Quiz to win a €20 Book Token!

“Taking Stock” is an 8 week course beginning on July 7th, details in branch. Free of charge. Places limited.
Toddler stories and Crafts
Introduce your little one to the joy of listening to a story, followed by an Art and Craft workshop. Free every Thursday at 11.30am
Bee-tastic Art
We offer a craft session for boys and girls aged 5-10 years on Saturday July 18th at 11am. €2. Places limited.

Thomastown Library
This year’s Summer Reading Challenge “The Summer Reading Buzz” will run from 1st July to 22nd August. Children should call in to the library to register from 1st July. Children must read a minimum of 10 books throughout the summer and will receive stickers and rewards as they complete each level!
Cartoon Saloon!
Thomastown library are delighted to welcome Cartoon Saloon to Thomastown library on July 7th for two free animation sessions. SHAPESHIFTERS character design workshops will take place at 10.15am and 11.30am. Suitable for all ages, parents must accompany children, places are strictly limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please ring 056 7794331 to book.

Loughboy Library
Cartoon Saloon
Many thanks goes to Cartoon Saloon animator Rory Conway for a wonderful series of animation workshops yesterday. Following a short trailer from Cartoon Saloon’s forthcoming film “Song of The Sea” Rory took his packed audiences, aged 6-60, through the basics of animation drawing with a hands-on workshop. We look forward to the opening of the gorgeous, magic, beautiful “Song of the Sea” on July 10th.

Catherine O’Keeffe Exhibition
Catherine O’Keeffe, daughter of Dick and Lizzie, grew up and lives in Tickerlivan, Graiguenamanagh. She attended the local Mercy Convent and Duiske College. She studied art in Grennan Mill, Thomastown, fine art in Waterford, post graduate in education in DCU and completed her master’s in education in WIT in 2011. She currently teaches art in Kilkenny VTOS. Catherine’s current vibrant exhibition at Loughboy Library has been inspired by her surroundings, the countryside, flora and fauna and her imagination.
Loughboy Library book club meets tomorrow (Thursday) at 10.30am to discuss “Academy Street” by Mary Costello and “Nora Webster” by Colm Toibin. New members are welcome.
Jellybean Julie Show
Hello there everyone, I’m Jellybean Julie and I’m coming to Loughboy Library on Thursday July 23rd at 11.30am to entertain you all (adults and children alike!) with some magic, puppets and music. Expect the unexpected!
