Top tips on supporting your childs reading & lots more!

It's mid-August how did the summer fly by so quickly? We are in the middle of a children's reading extravaganza these days. Our Summer Reading Buzz has been so popular that we are in danger of running out of incentives…...and that is surely a great sign. Kids signed up in their hundreds. A big thanks goes to their families who encourage them to use this valuable facility.

Top tips on supporting your child's reading:

  • Keep books, stories and games appropriate to their age level. If too hard or too easy, they may lose interest or confidence.
  • If your child finds it difficult to sit and listen to a story, provide them with paper and pencils so that they can draw while they listen.
  • Comic books or graphic novels can be a good way of helping children to follow the story if they have difficulty reading.
  • Give encouragement and praise for even the smallest accomplishment.
