The STAR Awards is a national awards initiative coordinated by AONTAS
The STAR Awards is a national awards initiative coordinated by AONTAS, The National Adult Learning Organisation, which celebrates the achievements of adult learners and adult education programmes throughout the island of Ireland. As part of the annual nationwide Adult Learners Festival, the STAR Awards recognise the positive contribution of adult learning to individuals, communities and wider society.
Commenting at the launch of the STAR Awards, Berni Brady, Director of AONTAS, said: The STAR Awards provides a real opportunity for us to highlight adult education projects that are successful in helping adults to progress on to employment, further and higher education or to contribute to their own communities.
AONTAS welcomes nominations from project coordinators, adult learners and people not directly involved in the project they are nominating. There are nine different regional and national categories which are judged by an independent panel of judges.
