Leitrim County Library has an extensive collection of local studies material which is housed at the new Library Headquarters in Ballinamore. The collections includes newspapers from Leitrim dating back to 1822, all of the Leitrim newspapers between 1822 and 1905 are fully indexed; manuscript material relating to local landed families; an extensive archival collection that includes Boards of Guardians books, Rural District Council records, shop ledgers, school records; and other interesting miscellaneous material relating to Leitrim such as books, journals, maps, photographs, and recordings of interviews with older people, plus a large collection of videos of local events.
