Louth County Archives

Louth County Archives is the official repository for local government and private archives that document the social, economic, and historical development of County Louth .  Local government collections include engineering, financial & administration records, minute books of meetings, planning application files, public health records (pre-1970), and rate books.  Collections include Louth Local Authorities and their predecessor bodies such as the Grand Jury, Board of Guardians (workhouse), Rural District Councils, and urban authorities of the 18th – 19th centuries. They also hold archives of Dundalk Harbour Commissioners, Louth Agricultural Committee, and a number of estate, family, and legal papers, committees, national schools, and businesses. Opening hours are by appointment.
