Westmeath County Archives Service holds a variety of collections relating to the county. Among the local authority collections are those of the Grand Jury, the boards of guardians, Westmeath County Council, Athlone Borough Corporation, Athlone Town Commission, the Town Councils of Athlone and Mullingar and the rural district councils (abolished in 1925). The archives of private origin are extensive and include: the papers of Belvedere House and other landed estates, papers of local businesses and organisations.
