Ye Olde Hurdy Gurdy Museum of Vintage Radio

Located in Howth Martello tower, the museum traces the history of telecommunications from the nineteenth century to date. There are working examples of telegraphy equipment, gramophones, and early valve radios on display. The walls are decorated with old advertising posters, photographs and other radio-related paraphenalia. A working amateur radio station (EI0MAR) operates from the museum using Morse code (this is in operation on different days, depending on staff availabilty to operate it). The museum was established as a labour of love rather than as a commercial venture. A warm friendly welcome awaits all visitors to the museum.
