Sculpture

Another intriguing sculpture is Archer II located in Newtownsmith, Sandycove in Co. Dublin. This was designed by Niall O'Neill and is part of the Archer series. It is made from white concrete and steel and represents energy. Cosmic and human energy are symbolised and the inevitable release of both. The sculpture is positioned in a very suitable location, aiming the arrow out past the James Joyce Tower. Part of the attraction of the piece is the location.

Each of the sculptures has an impact on the physical landscape of the area. Just like the monuments of ancient times they provide insights into a particular generation. People chose to place these pieces of art in the landscape. They are now integrated into the cultural landscape of the area and people live their lives around them.
