UCC Boole Library
An active collecting repository, the Boole Library Archives Service collects and administers archival collections generated from outside of UCC, which complement the research and teaching needs of University College, Cork. Among the major archival collections held are: Attic Press/Róisín Conroy Collection, Bantry House Collection, The Papers of George Boole, Papers of Daniel Corkery, The Grehan Estate Collection, Correspondence with Frank O’Connor and Seán Ó Faoláin, Peters Photographic collection, and the Seán Ó Riada collection.

National Archives of Ireland
The National Archives, established under the National Archives Act, 1986, is an amalgamation of the Public Record Office of Ireland (founded 1867) and the State Paper Office (founded 1702). It preserves records which warrant preservation as archives, mostly those of central government and the courts. Also held are census returns, land valuation records of the 19th century, wills and related papers, records of national schools from 1832 onwards, Anglican parish registers, estate collections plus other records essential for family or local history research. The National Archives facilitates access to these records by members of the public.

‘The Last Absolution of the Munsters’
Fr. Francis Gleeson, on horseback, was a chaplain to the 2nd Battalion Royal Munster Fusiliers during the First World War. This is the image captured prior to the Battle of the Rue de Bois and is entitled ‘The Last Absolution of the Munsters’ and was depicted by Matania. The surviving papers of Fr. Gleeson, including his diaries and Brigade Roll books are housed in the Archives.

Reading room, The Royal Irish Academy, 19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2
The collection of c.2,000 manuscripts includes the largest corpus of Irish language manuscripts in a single repository, the oldest surviving Irish manuscript, the Cathach, or Psalter of St Columba, and other important early texts. The manuscript collections encompass a wide range of fields including genealogy, history, literature, hagiography, early Irish law, natural history, journals and diaries, society minute books, etc. Over 60 early Irish manuscripts have been digitized and are accessible on www.isos.dias.ie. The library organises regular exhibitions, public lectures and library visits.

The Irish Architectural Archive
The collections housed by the Archive comprise the largest body of historic architectural records in Ireland and as such constitute a vital national cultural resource. They include the most significant body of historic Irish architectural drawings in the world, with in excess of 400,000 drawings ranging in date from the late seventeenth to the early twenty-first centuries. Also housed in the Archive are over 400,000 photographs, making this one of the largest collections of photographs in Ireland, and an extensive reference library, with more than 25,000 items of printed matter.

Limerick Studies
Limerick Studies Archive is the repository for local government archives in Limerick County and holds the local authority records of Limerick County Council and administrative records of older bodies such as the Board of Guardians and Rural District Councils. Also included in the archives are private Limerick collections such as the Monteagle Papers and the Coote Papers. Access to the archives is by appointment.

Wexford County Archive & Records Centre
Wexford County Archive Service is a repository for the archives of Wexford County Council and a rich resource for the study of the origins and development of local government in Co. Wexford. It also holds records of predecessor bodies of the present local authority system, including the Grand Juries, the Poor Law Unions, the Rural District Councils and Wexford Board of Health & Public Assistance. In addition, the Archive contains a wealth of collections of private origin.

As well as containing an extensive collection of secondary source material the Local Studies Department includes many original sources such as Griffith's Valuation, the Ordnance Survey Maps of the county, the Tithe Applotment Books, photographs from the Lawrence Collection, Rentals from the Marquis of Drogheda and Verschoyle Estates, a valuable collection of Quaker Manuscripts etc. It has newspapers dating from 1763 on microfilm and the 1901 and 1911 Census.
