Castlebrack

"Bréac" is a Gaelic word meaning multi-coloured or speckled. Hence, Castlebrack means a stone fortification with a speckled appearance.

Kilmanman Church and Graveyard

Kilmanman - meaning Manman's Church - is situated two and a half kilometres north-west of Clonaslee. It was one of two monasteries set up by St. Manman in the Clonaslee area in the 7th century.

Bianconi's Coach Service

From the early-18th century Durrow was serviced by His Majesty's Mail Coaches. These coaches ran from Dublin to Cork, a journey which, it is recorded, took 20 hours. It's halting site in Durrow from 1832 was The Red Lion.

Dunne Family Crest

The principal castle of the Dunnes was built in Tinnahinch in the old parish of Rearymore (east of Clonaslee) by Tadhg MacLaighnigh Ui Duinn who ruled the territory in 1475. It was the residence of the chief of the Dunnes.
