In 1836 building commenced on the Church of the Holy Trinity under the direction of the then Parish Priest - Father Paul Dowling. The Building cost £2,500 and voluntary labour was provided by the men of the parish.

Portlaoise Town Hall

Portlaoise Town Hall was built circa 1880 on the site of the old Market House, and stood in the Market Square. It was burned in 1945.

Ivy Chapel Cemetery

Victims of the Famine are buried in the graveyard in the Ivy Chapel. It continued to be used as a graveyard for the local community up until the late-twentieth century.
