West Cork Heritage Centre

Situated at Christ Church in Bandon is the West Cork Heritage Centre. Christ Church was constructed in 1610 on the site of a Danish Fort. It is said that it was the first Protestant Church built in Ireland. A portion of the old Bandon walls are part of the structure of the building. The church was deconsecrated in 1973 and hosts a series of exhibitions with the theme of Bandon's history. Visitors can see replicas of an old shop, school, kitchen and forge.
