Nano Reid was born in Drogheda, Co Louth. It is not known exactly which year she was born. Some people believe it was in 1900. Others think it was in 1905.

In 1920 Nano won a scholarship to go to the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art. She also studied in Paris and London. Many of her paintings are based on her home town of Drogheda and the area around it. She was inspired by the Boyne Valley.
She was a close friend of Gerard Dillon and they often painted together. She exhibited her paintings in many parts of the world e.g. Wales, New York, London, Switzerland, Dublin and Belfast.
