9.6.2 How to say it in e-mails

Aside from websites, e-mails are the electronic format that you can’t live without. Plain text e-mails, are the most accessible to people who use screen readers. Use the Text Email Newsletter (TEN) standard for longer e-mails – see www.headstar.com/ten.

If you use HTML e-mails, follow the web accessibility guidelines. Use descriptive text for links to websites in all your communcations, and make sure that hyperlinks describe the content of the pages to which they refer. ‘Click here’ makes no sense if the person is using a screen reader.
