Final Days

At the end of 1918, and during the first few months of 1919, a deadly flu pandemic killed many people throughout the world, including Ireland and England.

There was an outbreak of the flu in Gloucester Jail, and Pierce McCan was one of the unlucky prisoners to be struck down by it. He died on Thursday, 6 March 1919.
