Make a map key

What symbols do maps use to show information?

Colours are used as well as lines and dots.

Colour is used on maps as a symbol for different things. Blue is usually for rivers, lakes or the sea and green is used for parks or green spaces.

Most maps have a key which explains these symbols.

Another name for a map key is a map legend.

In your copy book write the following list of place names as they are shown below, then look at the map of Raheny and put the colour or symbol beside each name on your list.
You will then have made a Map Key.
